The Practice Group nominated for its second major award in two months

The Practice Group, one of the largest nationwide independent NHS providers of primary and community-based care, are delighted to see their Clinical Nurse Training Manager for Complex Care, Sue Handforth, shortlisted for the ‘Good Nurse Award’ in the West Midlands Region of The Great British Care Awards 2018.

Having been instrumental to the design and delivery of TPG Complex Care’s induction course, held at the Telford based division of The Practice Group’s bespoke training centre, the shortlisting is testament to Sue’s dedication and hard work.

The ‘Good Nurse Award’ recognises the critical role that specialist nurses working in the Care Sector play in promoting the emotional, physical, psychological and social health of the people who they support.  It also acknowledges how well an individual integrates nursing skills with social care. Given the wide range of nursing entries this award attracts from across the statutory, independent and voluntary sectors, getting to the shortlisted finalist stage is an amazing achievement.

It’s an accomplishment echoed by The Practice Group’s Head of Nursing, Natasha Whiston-Grice:

“Sue’s nomination for this award is richly deserved. With her dedication and compassion, Sue exemplifies all the very best values of the care industry, which is essential for us, given the complex needs of our clients with many of them requiring around the clock care.

As our Clinical Training Manager, Sue is responsible for training all new carers and nurses to ensure they provide safe, high quality care to all our clients through initial and refresher training, as well as visiting clients and their teams in their homes. With her positive encouraging support and real-life but anonymised examples to enhance her training, Sue equips all those who learn from her with the very best practical skills to care for clients. As someone who has been lucky enough to work alongside Sue and see the great work she does and carers she helps create, I’m thrilled to see her shortlisted for this award and we all wish her the very best for the finals.”

The finalist awards ceremony for the West Midlands Region of The Great British Care Awards 2018, will take place on Friday, 30th November 2018 at the Edgbaston Stadium, Birmingham.
